Overview

Setting 1

Open 52 weeks per year, this home caters for up to fourteen young people of mixed gender, aged 11 to 19 with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) and complex associated difficulties.

Located in its own grounds, the home is surrounded by neighbouring farms and fields in a picturesque rural area. There is easy access to local villages and towns, including Rugeley which is approximately five miles away and has a variety of amenities such as shops, supermarkets, post office, library, leisure centre, hairdressers and health services.

Facilities

Purpose built in 2004, the setting comprises two separate houses, both of which are designed to be comfortable and homely. We have ensured that the home reflects ordinary domestic style living, with comfortable modern domestic furniture. Both houses each have:

  • Seven individual en suite bedrooms
  • A spacious entrance hall
  • A large dining room
  • A fully-equipped kitchen
  • A laundry
  • Two spacious lounges
  • A sensory room/snug
  • A medical clinic
  • One shared bathroom with bath and shower
  • A shared large garden with shared horticultural centre
  • Access to two x eight seater minibuses

Setting 2

This setting accommodates up to 23 young people with autism and associated moderate to severe learning difficulties between the ages of 8 and 19. The home offers a range of placements, from 40 up to 52 weeks, as well as short break packages for day pupils attending Rugeley School.

Location

Around five miles from the school, the home enjoys a rural setting surrounded by farms and fields. Rugeley, the nearest town is approximately three miles away and has a range of amenities such as shops, supermarkets, a post office, library, leisure centre, hairdressers and health services. There is also a local GP three miles away and local hospital within nine miles of the home.

The setting is divided into four homes, each with their own front door, helping to create a warm, homely environment. The four units are:

The Barns (sleeps 6)

  • Six single rooms (five with en suite facilities)
  • Two shared bathrooms with bath, shower and lavatory
  • One lounge
  • One snug
  • One medical room
  • One farmhouse style kitchen/diner equipped with domestic appliances
  • One large toy store
  • One conservatory area

 Apollo (sleeps 6)

  • Five single rooms with en suite facilities
  • One single room with adjacent bathroom with bath and shower
  • One lounge
  • One study room
  • One kitchen/dining room

Memphis (sleeps 6)

  • Six single rooms with en suite facilities
  • One shared shower
  • One shared bathroom with bath and lavatory
  • One downstairs lavatory
  • One kitchen
  • One lounge/dining room
  • One snug room
  • One medical room

 The Apartment (sleeps 5)

  • Five single rooms with en suite facilities
  • Two shared bathrooms
  • Two lounges
  • One snug room
  • One kitchen
  • One dining room
  • One medical room

In addition, all houses share access to:

  • A telephone in a quiet and private area of each house
  • One large activity room
  • Large lawned garden area with raised beds
