Priory Lodge School "good" in all areas...

Priory Lodge School in Roehampton has been praised by Ofsted for the standards of its teaching.

Priory Lodge School has been rated as "good" in all areas inspected including pupils’ achievement, pupils’ behaviour and personal development, quality of teaching, quality of curriculum, pupils’ welfare, health and safety and leadership and management.

Priory Lodge School, which opened in 2010, is an independent, co-educational day special school for pupils aged between five and 19 years of age. All pupils have a statement of special educational needs in relation to autism, Asperger Syndrome and other associated complex learning and emotional needs.

The Ofsted report noted that "the school enables many pupils who have experienced severe anxieties and fragmented education to make good progress in returning to full-time education.’ It also comments that ‘as a result of good teaching, the pupils make good progress and make up lost ground so that they achieve accredited qualifications that prepare them well for life after school."

The inspector found that "there is good provision for the pupils’ personal and emotional development’ and ‘they behave well and grow in confidence and self-esteem."

The School Principal Lucy Wood was praised for having "an accurate view of the school’s effectiveness and high expectations for the pupils and staff."

Lucy Wood said: “I am extremely proud of everyone involved in the education we provide at Priory Lodge School. The very positive report is testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff, and the engagement of the pupils and their families and carers, and highlights how far we have come since opening.

"To achieve the most positive outcomes possible for our children and young people is at the heart of everything we do and to receive independent verification of the school from Ofsted is incredibly rewarding.

"However, we will not rest on our laurels, and are continuing to look for innovative ways to enhance our provision even further and achieve our ultimate aim of achieving outstanding outcomes for the children and young people."
