Blaize Moody, a former student of Priory College Swindon (formerly Farleigh Further Education College Swindon), has helped the college celebrate 10 years of service and a "Good" achievement rating by Ofsted inspections by unveiling the college’s new name.
Blaize, who was a student at the college from September 2010 until July 2013, said: “Being at Farleigh really helped me learn the skills I needed to move out of home and in to my own place which I did in November. Going out on extra-curricula activities with the friends I made also helped me to learn the social skills I needed.”
Martin Bentham, Principal of the college, said: “I am proud and delighted to have Blaize return to the college to mark the anniversary and to share his own personal achievements in unveiling the new name."
Helen Sharpe, Managing Director of Priory Education Services, added “The consistency of the high standards of care and education provided by Priory College Swindon has been endorsed by Ofsted through its rating and the qualities highlighted in its latest report. The Priory Group, the college and its staff are proud of what has been achieved in the last ten years with the focus on excellence and positive outcomes for our young people continuing to be embraced in the years to come.”
Helping young people achieve their potential
The college, which specialises in supporting students with social and communication difficulties, particularly those with Autism and Asperger Syndrome, to fulfil their potential, offers both day and residential provision. During the last decade, the college’s highly skilled staff have helped about 200 young people like Blaize to achieve their potential and make the transition beyond college and in to continuing education, employment or in to supported or independent living destinations.
In the most recent Ofsted inspection, the college was rated Good in every category, with inspectors saying: “The college provides excellent provision for the students in their care… the staff team are incredibly committed to the students they work with.”
