Troup House School is situated in 42 acres of natural woodland that includes a wide range of resources including 2 ponds (one built by our young people), playing fields, ropes courses, a zip line, a mountain bike track, a greenhouse, vegetable plot and BBQ area. We support and encourage our young people to utilise the school grounds and resources, and we spend a great deal of our time outdoors during both education and leisure time.
Our young people live in the main house which covers three floors:
- The ground floor has the kitchen, dining room and two communal living rooms with large screen, wall mounted TV’s, along with toilets and the staff office
- The second floor has five bedrooms, two shower/bathrooms, the laundry, the archive room and the night care team’s office
- The top floor has six bedrooms, two shower/bathrooms and storage spaces
At Troup House, everyone has their own bedrooms (some have en-suites) that are decorated to a high standard. Our young people are supported to personalise their space in ways that reflect their own tastes and interests. All of our young people are expected to keep their house and their bedrooms clean and tidy with support from the staff team. Although every bedroom has a TV, we encourage people to spend time socialising together.
We offer up to 52 week education and care placements which comprises of one residential home onsite in the main school house and one offsite in the quiet town of Inverurie, roughly 35 miles away from the school.
Both homes are well resourced creating safe, comfortable and homely environments which are decorated to a high standard. We have modern communal areas at both homes including sitting rooms and dining rooms.
As corporate parents we take an authoritative parenting approach to ensure that we achieve positive outcome in the development of our young people.
