Staff profiles

At Troup House, our skilled and knowledgeable staff team are committed to providing positive  experiences for our young people built on strong relationships that nurture and support them to develop their resilience and capacities. Our care team are all registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and our education team are registered with the General Teaching Council (GTC).

We use a safe recruitment approach to ensure that we recruit staff who will bring a range of experiences, qualities and qualifications to our school community. All of our staff are required to be members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) through Disclosure Scotland.

Troup House School takes an inclusive approach to addressing and supporting each individual’s needs, creating opportunities to thrive and develop. We support our young people through plans and interventions based on the Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) Wellbeing Indicators. Our care, education and support services teams engage in collaborative practice and are committed to ensuring the best outcomes and experiences for all within our school community. Key Workers and education tutors work closely together to support our pupils to develop their competencies in relation to learning, developing healthy relationships and skills that prepare them for independence.

Our specialist education team consists of:

Our specialist care team consists of:

  • Head of Care
  • Senior Team Leader
  • 3 Senior Residential Support Workers
  • Residential Support Workers
  • Night Residential Support Workers
  • Bank Residential Support Workers

We also have a support services team, this consists of:

  • Administrator
  • Chef
  • Cleaning and Domestic Staff
  • Maintenance Team

Our whole Staff Team are actively engaged in achieving our vision, aims and function as a school  and have a shared understanding and commitment to providing a quality service that best meets the needs of our young people. We take account of national and local policies, and best practice models to guide and influence our practice. As practitioners we are committed to engaging in a cycle of self-evaluation that drives the future development of our provision and contributes to our process of continuous improvement.

All staff are required to complete mandatory training relating to a foundation knowledge base and core competencies this training includes:

  • Health & Safety
  • Safeguarding & CSE
  • Team Teach
  • Life Space Intervention
  • Getting It Right For Every Child

Additional training for a number of staff includes:

  • Coaststeering Leader
  • Water safety
  • Mountain biking
  • Kayaking
  • Climbing
  • Team Teach Instructors

We have staff trained to use our on-site high and low ropes courses.

Staff training and development is further enhanced through site specific training input and Priory Group’s e-learning tool.

As corporate parents we are aware that in order for children to develop, they need to be nurtured in a safe environment that promotes self-esteem, resilience and provides support through positive and protective relationships.
