Community education

Here at Tadley Court School, we place a strong emphasis on community-based learning. We want our young people to be able to move on to become successful members of society, so we feel it is important that we help them to become familiar with the local community during their time with us.

For some students, they may go out into the community to help develop life skills. For example:

  • Learning money handling skills by visiting a local retail park
  • Developing independent travel skills using public transport
  • Working on shopping and cooking skills with a visit to the local supermarket
  • Improving social and communication skills with a trip to the leisure complex

Other students may choose to take part in community-based charity or sporting events, such as:

  • National autism week
  • Run for life
  • Interschool football matches
  • Children in Need
  • McMillan Coffee morning
