At Southern Peninsula Services (formerly Devon Education and Children’s Services), all students have the option to meet with Careers South West and our work experience coordinator from Year 9 onwards so a clear transition pathway can be produced for future work experience placements, courses and further study. All students in Key Stage 4 (and some in Key Stage 3 where appropriate) are offered opportunities to engage in work experience placements. These placements build on aspects of Employment Skills, which can also be delivered through ASDAN or NOCN.
It is important for our most complex students, whose needs may prevent them from accessing some work placements, to still have the opportunity to be provided with these experiences.
We endeavour to ensure that all our students leave us with a clear transition plan and skills to support them to be as independent as possible, supported by the professional network that supports them.
