Involving young people in the care they receive

We believe it is important for young people to be involved in the care they receive so that they feel recognised and valued. Young people living in our homes have the opportunity to attend regular house meetings. Each residential student also has their own dedicated key worker who develops a close understanding of their individuals' needs and with whom they can discuss any issues they may have.

A hidden curriculum

The residential staff in our homes work closely with young people to develop individualised social programmes are developed, which we refer to as a hidden curriculum. We help to develop the young person’s social behaviours and personal skills and allow them to practice and rehearse these vital skills in real life settings. We help them to develop a range of independence skills, including:

  • Budgeting
  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • Personal hygiene

A varied activities programme

We actively encourage all our residential pupils to:

  • Join local clubs
  • Take part in vocational courses
  • Take trips to nearby places of interest, such as:
    • Herefordshire (leafy, nice scenery)
    • Social clubs
    • Ledbury
