Welcome to Goodrich Manor

Goodrich Manor is a registered children’s home in Herefordshire for children and young people aged 8-18 years with complex needs. This includes social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), attention deficit disorder (ADD), conduct disorders and mild learning difficulties. The young people are also likely to present with behaviours that may challenge.

Supporting the needs of the young people

The children and young people we support at Goodrich Manor have usually experienced multiple care and education breakdowns, have little confidence or trust in adults and struggle to build relationships. As a result of past experiences, they often also have a poor self-image and low self-esteem.

Goodrich Manor places a high value on the relationships staff build with the young people which are central to the work undertaken with them. The home has a team of staff of different ages with a wealth of experience and qualifications, who are positive role models.

The staff team use a range of approaches in their work with the young people. Underpinning these is the person-centred approach, where the focus is on building and developing meaningful and trusting relationships. Once these relationships have been established with the young people, staff can gently challenge behaviours and explore feelings and emotions. The home offers young people the safety, security, stability and predictability that they need to build trust and confidence, and to develop their ability to make reasoned choices in their lives.
