Welcome to Fairview

Fairview children’s home supports three young people aged 11-18 years with a range of complex needs. This includes previous trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional and social difficulties, as well as mild to moderate learning difficulties and an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). The home is located in a small village in Herefordshire, looking out over countryside and a river.

Supporting the needs of the young people

We have three staff teams who work on a 1-1 basis and all of the staff at Fairview have different interests and skills. We have the young people’s best interests at heart and want all young people to achieve. The team will promote independence; this may begin with the young person helping to prepare a meal with staff, leading on to the young person cooking by themselves and in time, being responsible for purchasing their own food and cooking this for themselves. We encourage all of the young people to clean their bedrooms and bathrooms; they can also help with household chores to further develop their daily living skills, as well as supporting the young people to use public transport.

When a young person moves in, they will be allocated a key worker who will build a relationship with them. There will be opportunities for the young person to speak to their key worker in private about any concerns they may have, or for the staff member to speak to the young person about different topics.

All staff at Fairview will help young people to build their confidence, this may simply be through conversation or by supporting participation in activities such as joining clubs. All staff will praise young people if they have done something well, even if this may seem small to others.
