Queenswood School takes referrals from both England and Wales. We welcome children with a statement or an EHC Plan (England) and those with a Statement of Educational Needs (Wales).
If you are parent
If you are interested in sending your child to Queenswood School, we would invite you to contact us and arrange an informal visit. This will give you and your child the opportunity to look around and decide if it is the right place. If you feel we are a good fit and either the EHCP or SEN allows you to name us to your Local Authority as your preferred school for your child to attend, we will support you with the rest of the referral process.
If you are a Local Authority
We welcome Local Authorities to make a referral request or placement via our central referrals team by calling 0118 970 8068. Alternatively, you can contact us directly at the school by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
We receive the initial paperwork and we make an assessment as to whether or not we feel we can meet the young person’s needs.
We arrange for the young person to visit the school for an initial assessment. This is a very flexible process, which we are able to work around the needs of the young person.
If we feel we are able to meet the young person’s needs, we will then invite them for a test period at Queenswood School. This three month trial allows us to carry out further assessments and enter into thorough discussions with both the placing authority and the child’s parents to ensure that everyone agrees a permanent placement would be in the young person’s best interests, without the risk of having another permanent exclusion on their record.
Step 4Depending on the success of the trial period, the young person would either take up a permanent place at Queenswood School, or another Priory placement would be offered that betters suits their needs.
