Introducing our Head Teacher - Louise Reeks

For the last 17 years, Louise Reeks has supported children and young people with special educational needs (SEN). During this time, she has worked with some of the most incredible young people who have been able to share their insight into their challenges. This has enabled Louise to provide and direct a highly dynamic and responsive approach which benefits everyone and achieves positive outcomes.

Over the last two years, Louise has worked with young people and staff as the Head Teacher for one of Priory’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) schools.

Now the Head Teacher at Priory Lodge School, Louise is delighted to be working with such a knowledgeable and dedicated staff team. Together, they are wholly committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment, in which individuals are empowered to achieve their full potential.

Our autism strategy

At Priory Lodge School, we recognise the importance of putting autism at the centre of everything that we do. Now in 2020, we are emphasising our focus on strengths and differences, not deficits; and celebrating these. By focusing on each pupil’s aspirations and outcomes, our curriculum is specifically designed to meet the individual’s needs, so that they can overcome their barriers and build on their successes.

We have brought in an expert consultant to support our new leadership to drive forward autism-centred outcome-focused planning, and to further build on our latest Ofsted rating, which was 'Good' in May 2019.

At the very heart of our 2020 autism strategy is a strengths based, socially inclusive community, involving the young people, their families and school staff, enabling them to work together to empower individuals to reach their full potential. We know that by drawing on the strengths, knowledge and expertise of our wider community, we will provide a better service and improve outcomes.

Testimonials from our students

“It’s friendly, the teachers are kind and it’s fun to come here every day and do something new.”

“What I love about it here is that everybody accepts you for who you are. Everyone has been through some difficult times but the staff give us the positive energy to keep on going.”

“The teachers here are really nice and they help me with a lot of things. Before, I couldn’t cook because I never really tried, but now with the help of the teachers I can cook different foods which is a good life skill.”

“It’s a nice school. The teachers put me on the right path when I came here. When I was coming here I wasn’t really on the right path. I was on the verge of getting kicked out of school but when I came here, they changed the way I think about things.”
