Therapy services

Eastwood Grange offers a range of therapeutic treatments to support our young people, including access to:

  • Consultant child psychiatrist
  • Consultant adolescent psychiatrist
  • Counselling psychologist
  • Speech and language therapist
  • Music therapist
  • Art therapist
  • Trauma therapist (available soon)

All our therapy team are registered with their respective professional bodies and have excellent experience of working with young people. We offer these treatments in-house at Eastwood Grange so that our pupils do not have to spend time on a waiting list to get the high quality support they require.

Assessing a young person’s therapeutic needs

When a young person first joins us at Eastwood Grange, we undertake a comprehensive six week therapeutic assessment to identify their individual needs. From this, a report will be compiled and the student’s therapeutic targets and objectives will be updated to reflect their unique circumstances, challenges and abilities.

Specialist therapy spaces

Due for completion in September 2016, Eastwood Grange has a purpose-built therapy suite with four dedicated therapy rooms, providing a specialised setting for our work with students.

Supporting young people to learn through therapy

Here at Eastwood Grange, therapy plays a crucial role in the work that we do with our young people. Our therapy team work side-by-side with students to help get them in a place where they are ready to learn. Together, they are able to identify any issues the young person may have that are stopping learning from taking place and then to work on removing those barriers. All our therapists place a strong focus on helping learners with managing their emotions and self-regulation.

We find that a young person’s diagnosis might shift following the therapeutic work that we do with them. Our therapy team work closely with education and care staff to advise on the best approach to take within the classroom and how to tailor treatment to maximise a student’s chance of success.
