Leaners have a full programme of activities to promote and develop independence in the home and the community. Students are supported by staff to keep their home clean and tidy, everyone also participates in weekly meetings to discuss and plan menus and activities.
Learners are supported to make their own choices, using accessible resources as appropriate. The residential homes are all close to local shops and supermarkets where learners develop their independence skills by taking part in planning and carrying out the weekly shopping for their home. They are also supported to prepare their own meals with healthy eating actively promoted.
Students have an exciting and active social life and are supported to pursue personal and cultural interests, these can include visits to:
- Beach attractions
- Sports activities
- Theme parks
For those learners who are on 52 week placements, these are organised activities during college holidays, including camping trips and days out.
