Ten students from Mark College, Somerset (now known as Sedgemoor Manor School) will visit Sri Lanka in July to see for themselves the work done by Room to Read and how the thousands of pounds they have raised is being spent.
Mark College is a specialist residential school for boys and girls aged 10 to 19 with specific learning difficulties including: language disorders, dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia.
Principal at Mark College, said: "Our students have difficulties with language but are lucky enough to be able to access the specialised and expert care and education at Mark College."
"Many young people across the world do not have the same educational opportunities we take for granted and this touched our students and encouraged them to do something positive to help."
"Mark College will be holding a series of fundraising events over the next few months to assist with this important work. A number of our students will then travel to Sri Lanka to see firsthand how Room to Read works with its young people."
"The ethos at Mark College is to support and enable individuals to flourish not matter what their difficulties and the young people undertaking this trip will benefit tremendously from the experience."
