Students at Coxlease school are celebrating...

Students, parents and staff at Coxlease School in Lyndhurst, a specialist school for children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH), are celebrating following today’s excellent GCSE results.

100% of the Year 11 students who sat GCSE exams achieved 3 or more A*-G GCSE or equivalent qualifications. 66% achieved 2 or more A*-C GCSEs or equivalent. There were good results across the school with six subjects seeing pupils achieving A-C Level 2 qualifications, with Maths and Food Technology seeing some excellent results.

Exceeding national expectations

One student, Jamie, even beat national expectations by earning 6 A*-C results. Jamie has been at the school since Y6 and to leave with 8 GCSE qualifications or equivalent (6 Level 2 A*-C qualifications and 2 D-G Level 1) is a fantastic achievement

When Jamie first arrived at the school his behaviour was very challenging and had poor self belief. The young man moving on from Coxlease School is a confident and successful individual ready to take on the challenges of mainstream college. The holistic development of Jamie, academic and personal, is a testament to the work of Coxlease School, who focus on meeting the needs of individual pupils and help them become successful learners.

Specialist education and care provision

Coxlease School is a specialist day and residential school for boys and girls aged 9 to 19 with SEMH who may also have other complex needs and learning difficulties. The school provides highly effective education, care, therapy, welfare and support for young people who may have experienced trauma, inconsistent and confusing care and emotional rejection.

Principal at Coxlease School, said: “At Aspris, we do everything we can to maximise the potential of our young people with special and complex needs. These achievements show that with a supportive environment and a structured teaching and individualised learning programme, our young people can be supported to achieve and go on to lead happy, meaningful and fulfilled lives. We are immensely proud of what they have achieved and look forward to supporting them in their College placements next year.”
